Keep in mind the Sharks have played less games than everyone in the conference except Edmonton, who they're tied in GP with. No WONDER Phoenix has more ROW wins, you're so smart

And Phoenix only has 2 more ROW wins than SJ btw.

Not worried about games in hand...SJ had more games in hand earlier up until now and havent done anything to gain much to seperate themselves from the rest of the Division

Pacific is up for grabs....

Yep, the Pacific is always up for grabs until someone clinches it. Again, nice work

San jose is the most overrated team in hockey this year. Burns has been in and out, not the star they were hoping for. The kids havent stepped it up. Havlat has been injured and stunk before then. This team will likely make the playoffs, not a lock as in years past, but then be a first round out, as currently assembled. Heatley and Setaguchi are sorely missed up front. Three goalies, half a dozen teams desperate, couldnt pull a trigger had to send Nittymaki to the minors. Really looks like they are going through the motions......

If I remember right SJ didn't run away with anything last year. They didn't clinch until the last week of the season, and weren't even in the top 8 until they turned it on in February. It was very much "up for grabs" last year.

But, knowing that the Sharks have the ability to turn it up when no one expects them to, i'm confident they'll win the division again. Personally, i'm glad everyone is underrating them. It's a good motivating factor.

Are you saying this based on the fact that the Sharks have beaten the Wings 2 out of 3 times this year? or becasue you just barely beat the Sharks on our 3rd game in 3.5 days? The only reason Det won, is becasue your 3rd string goalie is more clutch then our #1.

I won't say that...had some pick ups (Burns etc), bit the MOST overrated?..Nahhh. Actually the Sharks are in a good place IMO expectation wise (say compared to the Canucks). I don't think there were picked to come out of the West. Sure, their fans have been waiting, but I would say they are flying underneath the radar...Moore was a nice pick-up.

That's funny, because I can't even count the number of Canucks fans who were talking crap last year BEFORE the playoffs even started, and acting like they were a shoo in to win it.

Ahh, Wings fans coming out of the woodwork to support their first win over SJ of the year. You'd think that dominating an amazingly difficult central division or that NHL record setting home win streak would be enough to feed their egos, but I guess they use the Sharks as some sort of measuring stick. Can't imagine why they'd be so happy to beat little ol' San Jose.

The Sharks will still have fewer games played, so no, with the win Phoenix will NOT jump SJ in standings. Games played are counted before ROT wins.

No, I grudgingly give props that the Sharks beat us like our big brother two years in a row. Actually rooted for them against the Nucks even after all of that, but as a hockey fan I am telling you the Sharks have jumped the shark, first round out this year. Something is missing, the kids cant play other than Couture who is a stud, the defense is average, Boyle is overworked, Murray is overrated and Burns is just plain over. As far as Uncle Cracker, err Antti Niemi, even sharks fans arent happy with him. Trust me, not as a wings fan but as a hockey fan, any sharks fans wanna bet me the Sharks will make it to the second round, just send me their money.

I kind of agree; the way they've been playing for the most part this season, I'm not feeling any confidence in the Sharks game for the playoffs. I just don't get the impression that they could take on the Wings/Hawks/Cannucks/Blues of the NHL in a best of 7 series.

There are just too many key players who have been playing grossly inconsistent this season.

I don't think the Sharks are one of the strongest overall contenders in the West this year, but I'd sure hate to play them again in the playoffs this year.

Maybe San Jose doesn't quite have the all-around balance that it had in previous years, but hockey (especially playoff hockey) is sometimes more about matchups than who has the straight-away better team. The Sharks seem to be built almost specifically to beat the Red Wings, and unfortunately they do that very well (this afternoon's game notwithstanding).

I really do hope Nashville or Chicago or whoever clobbers you in the first round so we don't have to play again. No offense.

Hopefully Murray is OK - sounds pretty scary.
